Share with us the fabulous trip from Medellin to the Eje Cafetero by moving on to canyoning, paragliding, rafting, zip-trekking (you will learn on the ground what it's all about!), mountain biking and hiking to finish!
Arrival in Medellin. Half day with our guide Felipe Restrepo (See our guides) for a discovery of "his canyon" as he likes to call it. Canyoning, zip-trekking, a half day of unforgettable adventures. You will appreciate both experiences & meeting Felipe, who is also an expert in indigenous survival technique!
Once finished, Felipe will indicate you how to meet your next guide, Andres, to enjoy an increible tour of paragliding to fly over the canyon and the city of Medellin!
Medellin 7am: departure toward Santa Barbara to reach the Rio Buey, class 3/4 river with Jules Bonine (operated by Expedition Colombia)! Breakfast on the road in a restaurant carefully selected. You start the descent by raft around 10:00, will then have a delicious & tipical "Campesino" lunch on a small isolated beach. When Buey meets the Cauca River, it is the end of the 27 km journey.
Then you will take the road to Pereira, one of three cities that make up the "coffee triangle" with Arménia and Manizales. It is here, on the Andean highlands of western Colombia, which grows nearly 10% of the global coffee supply at altitudes ranging from 800 to 1800 meters. Your adventure will then continue in the Coffee Region. You will spend the first night on the heights of the city, stunning views of the surrounding valley and hills.
Early morning awakening and typical breakfast in the small village's market. Then departure for the mountain for a zip-trekking activity (climb the mountain through the dense vegetation on steep paths, always following and grabbing a lifeline).
You will terminate the adventure with a zip line and a 30 meters rappelling on a huge rock.
After lunch, you will be transported by jeep to begin a canionism route during the afternoon. Your efforts will be rewarded with a breathtaking scenery and a last challenge !
Overnight in Riosucio and early departure the next day for the Coffee Region. Arrival in Pereira before noon.
Pereira, one of the three cities that form the "coffee triangle". It is here, on the Andean highlands of western Colombia, where grows nearly 10 % of the global coffee supply at altitudes ranging from 800 to 1800 meters.
Departure during the morning with Arvey, your mountain bike guide, for a two-wheels ride, in the middle of the coffee plantations. The route will obviously be adapted to your level & expectations.
You will finish the trip with a tipical coffee farm, perched high above the city, next to your hotel. You will learn everything about coffee process, from seed to the cup, thanks to the owner who will share both his knowledge and passion. You will get into the role of a coffee roaster, feeling the soul of the autentic colombian coffee. Drinking the cup on the very site where it grows, is an experience you should live once !
Transfer to your hotel, with beautiful view on the city & the valley.
Early departure on the next day, to visit the emblematic Cocora Valley.
Early morning departure to enjoy the whole day with a 20 kms trekking. You will arrive at the famous Salento village. From there, you will be taken by Willys, tradicional jeep from the region, to the Cocora Valley (2400 meters).
You will start the hiking there, and will go through very distinct ecosystems. You will cross suspension bridges, will heard and see different bird species...
You will reach nearly 3000 meters, in a place names finca la Montaña, with spectacular view on the valley you just crossed.
Back at the departure point, the Willys jeep will be waiting for you to get you to Salento, where you will spend the night.
